Ball Jars for Breather Caps

I recently acquired a canning jar Breather Cap for my MTA. It came with a 'new' round jar (as advertised). So, I went to my mother's house and she hooked me up with a variety of square Ball jars (I have heard/read here at YT that the square Ball jar is the original unit). Question: which style is the orignal style for this cap? She has 3-4 different types. One has a fruit pattern on one side and Ball on the other, one has measuring lines and Ball, one is plain (just says Ball in script) and another says Ball in script and Mason in block letters. Anyone know which is correct? She also has a NOS box of twelve rubber seals that I 'borrowed'...is there any special requirement on the seals for originals?
