In this day and age you have a good point, but when they first came out that wasn't bad light even on dim. The country side around was much darker then without REA and they did show up much better. Also the life style was much different with nearly every farm having livestock chores to do and folks got up at sunrise and worked till dark without daylight savings time. Tractors were not used as much after dark. The old car lights were not very bright either. Hope this gives some light to the subject. Ralph
