Distributor configuration on H

I bought a 1946 H at a sale. I have discovered, in examining the tractor closely, that the distributor is vertical, instead of what I thought was a standard horizontal position. I have looked at all the Farmall books that I have and do not see any distributor placement like this one. It doesn't seem to affect the operation of it at all, although the wires come out close to the hood and perhaps even push the hood out a bit. Any observations or thoughts from you Farmall buffs out there?
