One thing to consider, is that the tractor may have IH firecrater pistons in it.. If so, the timing has to be advanced 15 Degrees so that the tractor runs with efficient and with more power.. The only way to check is to take the head off.. The thing that may not make sense, is that IH made a distributor advance changeover kit, which just meant that you had to change a few parts to make the timing correct for the timing marks on the tractor.. NOTE: They also included a diagram that could be cut out to make an adjustment on the position of a mag or distributor if the changeover was not available, so that may explain the setting of your distributor or mag..
