Red, What do you mean by backwards? The factory specs for the I-4 show; 1st-2.2, 2nd-3.6, 3rd-5.2, 4th-7.4, 5th-15.5, Rev-3.0 mph. We used a I-4 for a shop mule for many years and I don't remember anything backwards about the gears on it. Harold H
