The only way an M would have been painted white is if there was a used M sitting on the lot that a Dealer unofficially painted white to demonstrate. There is no evidence in the archives to prove that this happened to Ms, but it did happen in very limited numbers to smaller tractors. One source of confusion is that IH used a white sealer on parts containing oil- cast iron is sometimes pourous andd they slathered on white gunk to make it hold oil. Quite a bit, if not in a few tractors the entire driveline, got covered. One other possible problem is that sheet metal parts got shipped from factory to factory, and were apparently primed for shipment- one photograph I've recently seen is a crawler tractor on the line. It clearly hasn't been painted yet, and its got a black hood.
