H distributor springs

Is it difficult to dissasemble the dist. and stick in new springs on the weights? Since my optimum idle and optimum high speed dist. setting is a good 10 degrees difference, I suspect the springs have gotten weak. When I have the timing at optimum on idle, than I have to advance about 10 degrees to get optimum at higher speeds. My 46 Indy H does not have this problem. Also gonna shop for another carb. The body on this one is pretty shot. Just running fair even with the new kit installed.
