There are usually two small plugs in the shifter tower system that need to come out (at least one) the pin under that is driven out the other side, and the lever comes out. Align the rails (the one on the left rear will be pushed back) use a screw driver to pull it forward to align with the others. Pushing in the clutch will/may help. The tip has been pictured in this forum many times, it is kinda the shape od a chicklet chewing gum (before chewing). It can be welded up some on the bottom corners, then ground down to fit nice, and shift well into all gears without binding (this takes patience, and several fitting sessions) It is not a size thing to measure, it is sized to match what is worn on the rails. If the plugs fall out, put some #1 hardening permatex on them to hold them in place. I hope this helps. JimN

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
