Are you talking about the tabs on the bearings not fitting into the block and cap or are you trying to assemble the cap to the block with the tabs on the sme side of the block? The assembling of mains on these engines is diffrerent than most other engines. The main tabs assemble into the block 180 degrees apart. Also the arrow on the cap should point to the front of the engine. If the bearings do not fit the block and cap then you have the wrong bearings for your engine. There was a change in main bearings during the production run of that series of tractors that delt with the OD of the thrust bearing. The later engines use a larger bearing. If this is the bearing that is causing the problem make sure if you have the larger bearing that the block is machined to accept that size other wise you will need to get the smaller bearing.
