one more thing jim, the assembly has a built in bypass which furthers my point. The old pump is just not designed to pull a suction that this assembly requires to get the 25gpm. Now the guy I got the hydraulic manual from, he suggested that the assembly is too restrictive (and is one of the reasons I tried it without the filter assembly). The flow rate is 25gpm, but at what sort of vacuum. If the logsplitter pump can pull 2x the vacuum then this tractor pump, then it will probably flow more fluid. I should have realized this before. I guess they used a screen for a reason. Once again, its nobody's fault, it is a learning experience, and if my posts help just one other person out, then it is worth it imho.
