Del: Remove the distributor cap with No. 1 cylinder TDC on compression, make note of direction rotor is pointing. If not pointing to No.1 plug wire you very likely have stripped distributor drive gears. My Farmall 130 did this two months back, my first reaction was iceing in carb. I added methyl hydrate to gas tank, however no cure. At first my tractor would start but it did get worse and finally wouldn't start. My tractor had started great that morning around 0 degrees F, and when the problem hit it was as quick as you could snap your finger. You guessed it, stripped distributor drive gears, and they are the same on all 4 cylinder gas Farmalls 1939 to 1958. I will warn you the matching gears from CaseIH are roughly $165. CAD. You can probably find a complete distributor with drive for half that amount.
