Thanks, Janicholson, appreciate the feedback. I have just recieved the operators and I&T shop manuals, and am deciphering the info on adjusting the clutch linkage. Seems fairly straightforward, but if there's a way to fudge it up, I'll accomplish it with flair and panache. (a few minutes later)..... OK, so I've read through the instructions. Free height adjustment seems pretty straightforward. Then I adjust free pedal travel to 1 3/4 inches. Does this mean the pedal will drop that far as I adjust? How do I tell if no more adjustment is possible? Will the thread at the clevis be fully exposed or fully encased in the clevis? Hope that makes sense. Thanks mucho for any help, all youse ex-spurts.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
