The other guys are right on. The oil cooler is about the only place where high pressure oil passages and coolant passages meet. Poor cooling system maintence/old age cause the thin tubes to rust out. After you replace the oil cooler, make sure to flush the cooling system several times until you get ALL of the oil cleaned out. Oil will have a bad reaction with the o-rings that seal the bottom of the sleeves and may cause them to leak eventually. Remove the thermostat, reinstall the thermostat cover, fill the cooling system with a solution of water and a little bit of Dawn dish soap. Run the engine to circulate this mixture, drain, and repeat until you're sure it's clean. Then flush with clean water until you've got all of the dish soap out. Then put in a new thermostat, fill with coolant and replace the coolant filter. While doing this, just remember that it is never a good idea to drain the water from an engine that is very hot, or to pour cold water into a hot enigne. Keep your run times around 15-20 minutes and use hot water for refills and you'll be OK.

I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
