carb to air cleaner hose for 300U

I am missing the carb to air cleaner connector for the 1955 model 300U I am restoring. The IHC part number is 361978R1. IHC still "stocks" it but it has been backordered for 2 months. I cannot find a picture of this thing other than a drawing in the parts catalogue so I am not sure if it is metal or hose.

I suspect I am going to have to make something to fit, but does anyone know what is actually supposed to be there, ie rubber hose or metal pipe?
