Glenn if they are in good shape in proper time with a good clean carb they start fairly well. I have one that starts good down to around 20 degrees. I have heard other folks talk about theirs not starting at 40 degree's. When it gets very cold here I use one of the old gasser's to ekiminate starting problems they start all the time. The deisels are expensive to work on.
