Mike I agree with your assessmant 100%. Do this. Make sure the nonrunner has good oil in it, and that the oil pressure gauge works. Do not try to make it run, that increases the value 500$. With the fuel shut off, and a fresh battery, do a compression check. If it is good, 110-125 would be good for an H (I'd settle for 100), then with the fuel off, and the plugs out, pull it for 200' down the road in 4th gear at about 5mph (nnnooo faster). That will spin the engine well into its normal high idle range and show the oilpressure at cold temps. They usually are near pegged at the high end, 60 PSI or more. It also puts a load on the clutch and gives you an opportunity to put it into the other forward gears and tow it a bit to make sure they are at least not broken (becareful not to pull it faster than a crawl in 1, or a walk in two, or a fast mosey in 3, or 5mph in 4, or 15 in high. Do not do high unless the brakes work well. Then I would buy it. If bad or uneven comression (more than 10% difference between cylinders) or low/no oil pressure, I would offer 500 for the rig just to get the tires and wheels, then trade engines, or parts as needed to get into the parts you need. Good opportunity to do real tradin and swoppin and tractor type goofing off. JimN

I was moved off the train fast and on to the dealer’s
