Nat2 is correct, you do not need to go into the transmission. Its been a while since I did my H but I had to put a pipe wrench on the collar of the drive shaft to turn it off to replace the seal.I don't recall if the pump shaft is the same but it definitely comes off from there for a seal change. Its all done from the belly pump area of the tractor.
