The belly pump drive dog must be removed from the lower transmission shaft extension in order to replace the seal. The dog is threaded onto the shaft extension with regular right hand threads.

To remove it, stick a suitable flat bar in the drive dog slot, or grip it with a large pipe wrench. Stick the transmission in 5th gear and the brakes locked, then give the bar/wrench a good lick with a large hammer to break it free.

Once the dog breaks free it will usually spin off easily by hand. And after the dog is removed the retainer and seal will slide off easily.
