I learned how to drive tractor on my Dad's Farmall H and we still have it!!! Growing up farming in the Salinas Valley in the 50's and 60's H's were pretty common and popular. Here they were used as row crop tractors, bed shaping, rolling beds, close cultivation and planting. Usually over two 40" beds for a total ground cover of 80". They weren't used here for anything heavier. Brother M and famous cousin Super M were often converted (expanded) to cover four 40" beds for total ground cover of 160" and they handled the extra ground easily for the same tasks. The M's commonly were used for listing up 40" beds and they pulled five big bottoms in fourth gear on light ground. The M's are hard to come by anymore however there are still a lot of H's having been relegated to pulling pipe (irrigation) trailers and weed sprayers. Those M's were very much admired around here for their power and the old timers still speak fondly of them...H's too!

Flax provided the fibre which w
