The January 2006 issue of "Harvester Highlights",the magazine of the IH Collectors Club had an article and photos of the F-40. It was proposed at the same time the F-20 & F-30 were being developed. The pictures show the same duckbill steering box and a different air cleaner design on the front. It carried the 22-36 engine.
The radiator looks bigger than the F-20 or F-30 versions. The article says that only two were actually built and they were scrapped later. IHC would offer the W-40 later using the truck engine.
