You probaly have a WW II tractor as that is when many came on steel supposedly to save rubber but I knew of several that were bought on steel and owner got allotment for tires and rims and changed them out right away resulting in wasting scarce steel. As far as dating tractor if you do not know serial number there are casting codes on most major casting that will tell date that casting was made go to archives and do a keyword search for "casting codes" under Farmall heading and you will find lots of information. If you know serial number you can go to serial numbers on left of screen and determine year tractor was made.
