I said I would be bringing my excuse on Saturday (yesterday), well I"m a day late. I was holding my dad"s hand and talking to him Tuesday evening, March 13, when my dad passed on at the age of 77. Pneumonia took its toll as a result of 24 years of suffering from Parkinson"s Disease. I closed his eyes and feel I was blessed with the wonderful experience of being with my dad. Some may call it me nuts, but that is the way I feel. It was much more heartwarming than learning from a phone call that my best friend/girlfriend was killed in a car accident over seven years ago. Mom is an alcoholic and abusive to dad and I was fortunate to be alone with him. My sister was able to return for two days and just left earlier that morning. The nursing home staff was great. He loved restoring old automobiles, tractors, automotive and gas station memorabilia - doing so from the ground up, a complete job. A farm boy to start and 33 years with a - at that time - hometown phone company was his livelihood. A stubborn, penny-pinching full-blooded Norwegian to the very end. His wish, a Saturday funeral, was a week ago yesterday, complete with chick-a-dee"s singing at the cemetery. In December, I pushed him in his wheelchair, around my recent purchase, a Farmall 340 w/factory wide-front and he liked the sound and smiled approvingly and said it was "...a pretty nice purchase, how much did you have to give?" Yup, just like dad. I"m glad I have his approval. A wonderful guy!

We thought we could get by with this since the engine ran perfectly and would not need any internal work. After the cleanup and painting was done, we began reassembly and finally came to t
