in 10 years owning a300ih utility &a330ih starters have been interesting you realize that the starter being mounted "backwards" as they are means that they must turn backwards I have tried to get replacement starters from "auto parts stores" &have repeatedly been given IH truck starters that fit perfectly but turn the wrong way if this is the problem you're having your problem may be simpler to fix than you think .to check see which way your engine turns using with the starter it should turn clockwise looking from the radiator end as for the engine not starting to begin with probably an overheated coil
