Harness hookup at the generator with cutout. PIX

This is a 12 volt settup so all three posts are on the same side of the regulator. However the wiring is the same as on a 6 volts system. The blue wire goes to the BAT post, the yellow wire to the FLD post on the generator. The green wire between the 2 FLD posts. The red wire between the 2 GEN posts. The black wire snakes down to the coil.
