Neither are the M, A, B, C, W-4, 6, etc. The full flow oil system dumps all the trash into the bearigs if you blow out the filter. On a bypass system if the filter plugs up there is no harm done. These engines were made for reliability and a bypass system works quite well, look at how many old abused H's and M's are still operating well. When is the last time you pulled the drain plug from a car engine and had to poke a hole in the sludge to get the oil to drain, yet the engine will still run well? I've done that on lots of old Farmalls which must have gone years since the last oil change. Big bearings and slow speeds and an oil bath air filter.
