ASSUMING this is a DEERE; with the timing pin inserted into the flywheel at #1 TDC; take out the pipe plug and look down into the hole at the timing tab on the front of the injection pump. There will be a line scribed on the timing tab and a matching mark on the injection pump drive hub. They need to be lined up. To adjust; loosen the 3 screws holding the pump drive gear to the pump hub and make the necessary adjustment. Torque the bolts; then turn the engine two turns in the direction of normal rotation and verify the marks are perfectly aligned. Otherwise; make needed corrections and try again.
