I know exactly what you are talking about. My 450D is doing the same thing.
But, before you work on the injector punp, try the small pump bolted to the injector pump.
There is a thread here somewhere where a man told me he fixed his with a kit for the small pump.
As I recall, it was not cheap...but the problem is not the injector pump but the small gear pump.
I just haven't got to mine yet. A seal is allowing fuel to run from it to the the inside of the injector pump.
Don't go in the injector pump if its running good and the fuel pressure is good. Try the little pump first.
