I have a 240 with a similar problem. An old IH mechanic told me to take the pump out, hold my finger over the outlet hole, put the sump in a pan of solvent, oil, or some kind of liquid, and spin the pump over to build pressure. He said that sometimes where the cast aluminum cover that fits over the gears can warp & just a slight gap between the cast iron & the aluminum cover will cause a great pressure loss. The cast aluminum cover is still available but very expensive. He said that you can either take the cover to a machine shop & have it machined straight or use a large whetstone with a flat side surface & hone it down until it is true. I have yet to do this myself on my 240 but if I do I'll let you know.
