First check and make sure that nothing is binding the shifter under the cowl . As for getting to the rest son you is in for a bunch of work . Ya either have to remove the fuel tank or support it and remove the whole dash support drain the cooling system and Hope the temp. sending unit comes out along with ALL the sheet metal wires hyd. like if it has the side mount for culivators Also check and make sure that one of the Tapered grove pins did not come part way out and get caught down by the speed trans cover at the collar as i have seen this happen more the once.
