Bill: You have not convinced me. 35 years ago I rebuilt transmissions in my 300 and 560, mainly with used gears. I don't remember particular part numbers, however I do remember one could use mixed suffixes on gears but not mixed part numbers. That is as it applied to a driven gear matching with a driver. That information was given me by an IH partsman. I'm not saying your wrong either, changes don't always mean change in physical appearence. I guess one has to decide whether it is a minor or major change. If one looks at offset tractors, (A, SA, 100, 130 and 140) IH used at least 6 block part numbers, each having 1 to 4 suffix. We all know everyone of those will bolt up to any of the tractors, however when it comes to putting working parts in a particular block, it becomes a bit more complicated. I'm sure there are not 20-25 piston and sleeve kits sizes for these tractors, but there are aproximately 1/2 dozen.
