gene: I'm already part of the way there, putting short axles on both side of a SA, turn the crown same as for a fork lift, eliminating the torque tube in favor of an automatic transmission, plus shorten the whole vehicle. Drive the mower from crank pulley. Two spool valve hydraulic, one for steering and one to lift mower. Haven't worked out the details, but shortened wheel base wide front, using SA center tube. I'm also torn between the automatic and putting engine 12" from transmission giving me enough room for clutch assembly. I plan an operator platform right behind final drives and above mower. Another option is a hydrostatic unit between engine and transmission. By the time I get all done it will have been less expensive to buy a new zero turn, and sell my Woods. I see woods are building a Zero turn.
