It has a lot todo with the manufacturer of the gaskets.Some are the old tin style,others are composite.A composite gasket has sealant around the water and oil passages,and requires no sealant. The bottom line is if the gasket manufacturer requires sealant and retorque,thats wghat you need to do. If it were my tractor,I'd pull the head off it,seal it with the sealer they recommend,and put it back together with the same gasket.Its not a very big job to get the head off one of those.I did one,a 50 C.
Make sure its not installed upside down,if possible.We've all done it.
