(1) You say it stops charging. After how long? With a fresh battery, it is only necessary for the generator to charge a very few minutes after starting. Then the ammeter will drop to near zero. This is normal system behavior. (2) What John T says below about bypassing the voltage regulator. These can be bad new out of the box, so just because it"s new doesn"t automatically mean it"s good! (3) Occasionally an eletrical system will defy troubleshooting for a while. Over the internet, we can only draw on our personal experiences. Stick with it, you"ll find the problem! But I"d probably START by performing the votage regulator by-pass John T describes in his reply.
