Gary, The engineers at IH obviously tapered that shaft and gear so that it couldn't be 'adjusted' for end play. Why? Most likely that the entire assembly wouldn't be carried by the gear and nut, and 90% of the wear is from weight downward. This is the half round gear. Side wear accommodated by bushing replacement. Gear wear accommodated by replacing the gears. This H I plan to use solely for show and parades, therefore hi-speed transit to and from is desired. I did consider the welding and fileing. I can do that for a lot less than 150.00! Glenster...get that guy going on these gears. Get a quote. We'll get Cowman to market them Gordo
