All the Delco starters and generators had a tag similar to those pictured. 6-volt were black, 12-volt red. The number stamped into the center area is the Delco part number of the unit. Also stamped (I think after the part number) is a date code. I have forgotten how to decode, but you can find it on the web. For a Super A starter, I have the numbers: 1107067 48-53 1107021 48-53 1107093 52-54 A lot of rebuilders rip the tags off and replace them with their own (usually paper) tags with their numbers, usually something like S-14. That way, they can treat several different original parts as all the same and avoid customer confusion.
