You need to pull the cover off the coil and take a flatblade screwdriver and touch those magnets to see if they still have strong magnetism. The magnets are what creates the spark when passing by the coil. The magnets should attract that screwdriver with a lot of attraction. If they don't, that's probably the reason there's no fire. Make sure the points are gapped at .013" and since you have cleaned the points take a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and clean the points several times. Pull the coil wire from the cap and hold it within 1/8-1/4" of good ground while some cranks over the engine. Should have a hot blue spark. If the magnets check out ok I would replace the condenser to eliminate it. Make sure the kill switch is in the run position. I would disconnect it at the mag for now. The coil could be getting weak too. You don't need to pull the mag to replace it. Hal

What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
