I understand where you are coming from. I to have been in the military for 21 years and I didn't join to get rich. It took me till I was 37 till I could afford my first tractor. Take comfort in the fact that you are a part of something bigger and your day will come. I have been to California and know how far the the paycheck doesn't go there. In true farmer fashion, you are taking care of that most important to you, I have done the same in the past. No shame in that. Will keep my eyes open for a fixer upper in your area for you, just be patient, it will come. Good Luck.
