404 rotating Valve cap ?

Rebuilding a 404 C135 and have rotating valve caps on the exhaust valves that are shot. They use different valve springs than the intake valves. Bought a head rebuild kit and it came with all valve springs the same. Book says some had rotating valve caps and some don't. Can I replace the rotating valve caps with standard ones so I can use the springs that came in the kit ? Also why did they put these rotating valve caps in and what purpose do they serve ? Will I damage my heads if I use std ones ?
