Well from what ya posted lastnight myself i would not be doing a compression test but using my time to get the head off . And if ya did not read my post from lastnight here is what COULD be wrong. (1) ya seezed a piston or two (2) ya up and done ate a valve (3) maybe ya blew the head gskt. . But either way the head has to come off . Now as to what caused it . (1) you were working the tractor hard and ya had 87 octain gas in her and swelled A piston or she swelled more could have got all 6 . (2) the timing is off and there for ya swelled A piston OR two or three . And this leads to wiped out pistons and sleeves . (3) ya got lucky and only ate a exhaust valve .Now here this is cause ya not using the LOW ASH OIL in the newer gassers. Even though these tractors have stelite valves from the factory. The things that are most critical on these old gasser are octain level in the fuel total advance timing , and the type of oil used in the engine . If i had a way of posting a picture of a piston that i pulled out of my buddy's 291 706 from lastyear when the New fuel delivery driver brought the spring load of gas out and brought the wrong stuff and caused me some extra work that i did not need to do . I have been down this road may times on the later gassers . Fuel of today is not the fuel that wes sold back when these tractors were new . I am waiting to see what the new diesel fuel is going to cost us in repairs . If it is anything like the last time they change ya had better start putting your spare change in the piggybank now . I about wore out my pickup running back and forth to the pump shop.
