Thanks for all the help. Fourth tear down done. I can remove one side now in 1 minute flat (power wrenchs). Stacked everything up, less than 1/8 inch clearance. Sand blasted the discs and the plates. Discs miked out at .475 inches. Bet they are .500 new. Test drove, and I actuall got to skid the tires, on gravel. But still apretty good push.But I'd say they are 80 percent efficient now. As I didn't do the plate on the tractor, (sand in splines and seal) that's acceptable. I have a feeling the discs are just too hard of a material. Probably epa safe to eat, but not worth a fiddlers ---- for braking While I had the assembly off on the bench i tried pulling the plates apart with a small hand winch. Those plates just don't seem to want to rotate very easily. Gordo
