Re the oats. I noticed this winter that the deer were really stacking up in a neighbors field. As many as 48 one evening in Jan. I have a mile long creek basin , full of cedar and Olive, Reed's canary grass, and cattails, and they come out of there. He had planted alfalfa with a cover crop of oats in the spring. Due to the drouth he mowed it once in late June. The oats reseeded. That's what the deer were after. No pawing for alfalfa, just nibbling off the tops. Could I plant a late , say 25 June-10 July crop of oats in a 5 acre food plot? Would the grain fall off too early? Or ever? I am in SD. Gordo
