Your New VR will work with the old system as follows Disconnect the wire going to the lights sw from the gen. That wire now is attached to the F terminal of the New VR. (12ga wire) The Arm. or A terminal of the VR is attached to the A terminal (bigger) on the Gen. (10ga wire) The Bat terminal on the VR is attached to the nonbattery side of the amp meter. (10ga wire) the light switch will work only in D or B and have no effect in L or H positions. If the VR has a L terminal it can be ignored for this application. Good luck, JimN
