Sure you can add a pto from another tractor. Check under number one plug on the milled flat spot. Engine serial number is there, and on the early A's these numbers were the same, if not an early A, then they were at least close. If no number there, or it was a replacement engine. Check for casting dates. They are coded years, they will look like this: 3*16*J. The letter j for 1940. Post what you find and someone will tell you the year.
