Its purpose is to be a tail light for transporting the tractor down the road. See, most people are apparently too dumb to notice that the light they're heading toward is straight in front of them, and getting closer and closer and closer, so they just plow into the back of the tractor instead of slowing down and realizing that there's a tractor ahead of them.

This was a lame attempt by the tractor manufacturers to have a red tail light so people wouldn't drive straight into the rear of the tractor.
