George, I totally agree. Something wrong with that mower. To Clarkbug: The No. 5 was made from 1934-1957 so there should be a TON of them around yet. Many John Deere tractors also used the "flat drawbar" that would fit on Farmall M and H so it should be easy to find one. Check farm auctions. I bought a No. 5 that came off a "B" JD and had the flat drawbar. I bought another that had the "quik-tach" clamp arrangement. Made one good mower from two using the quik-tach system and scrapped most of the rest including the flat drawbar. sigh! $$$$ wasted although I got scrap metal price.
