Hugh, I don't pull it , but I do work the snot out of my 1949 C with 123 pistons and no water pump. However it does have to have water added every couple of days during hot weather as it will slowly boil it away. It was this way when I bought it in 1975 and I didn't even know it until 1998 when I had to replace the crankshaft due to me breaking it with a sledge trying to drive that puuley on. Anyhow it does work and run fine.
