"occasional spark" ? There is a torrent of sparks. Blast in the dark and you will see sparks similar to a grinding wheel. Sparks come out of the nozzel as well as at the surface. Some stainless steel and all chrome will actually produce a corona around the point of impact. Titanium produces the best show. Big, fat, highly incandesent white tracers can fly 10 feet or more. Always wanted to get a photo of that but it is hard to blast and take photos at the same time. Not too good for the camera either. I blasted hundreds of motorcycle tanks 30 years ago. Never a problem. They were all empty and dry. I was once called out to blast a diesel tank that was still mounted and leaking at a seam on a 60 ton ledge truck at a job site. I didn't stick around to see how they repaired it.
