The starter rod on my 46 A doesn't come further back than the rear
support for the gas tank and I push it with my foot. It is a pain in
the rear and an previous owner had rigged up the pneumatic lift
control rod so that it was attached to the steering post and the
starter switch and you just pushed it with your hand. I chose to
return the old girl to her original configuration.
