If it's like a Super-A, it's a straight rod with a right-angle bend at one end sized to fit through the hole in the lever mounted atop the starter switch and just long enough for the bent part to have a very small cotter key hole at the end, which points toward the engine. The other end of the rod passes through a hole in a flat support bracket (bent to match the rod direction) mounted on the steering support assembly and ending in a vertically-oriented circle bend big enough to stick a big ol' finger through. If the 'A' has a choke rod, match its circular end. The starter rod circular end sticks out right beside the light switch. On the Super-A it's a 'pull', not a 'push' switch. Don't know about the 'A'. If you have some rod of the right size, it shouldn't be hard to 'eyeball' a proper fit - nothing fancy about it.
