Now I feel really stupid. I looked at the service manual for my Super A and of course all the needed info about the mag is there. As my A is coil ignition I never thought to look there. I made the mistake of pulling off the gear cover under the rotor instead of taking the whole points cover plate off in one piece. Thanks for the help.
